We have just started our second and final week of class! Time at Southern Cross has flown by so far! We took a couple of field trips last week to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, an aborigonal musuem, and to Byron Bay to go up to the lighthouse. The sanctuary was amazing! We got to pet kangaroos, koalas, see some wombats and join in on a huge parrot feeding.
This past weekend I went to the Lantern Parade in Lismore. It's a huge deal here and it attracts alot of tourists. It's basically schools and organizations creating big lanterns and walking down the street. This years theme was "Dreams" so we saw dragons and frogs and boats and so on.
Sunday I learned how to play netball a little bit. It's like basketball in the states except no backboard and no dribbling allowed. You have to pass the ball to move it. The game is pretty big among girls.
This week we have a field trip on Wednesday to the drug capital of Australia, Nimbin. It's only about 500 people but the town gets swamped with tourists daily. It should be an interesting culture shock.
Soon enough I'll be in New Zealand, where reportedly there is snow on the ground. I'm not ready to go back into winter yet! I haven't even really had a summer at all! We don't really have any plans yet either. So far we are going to the Cadbury factory, see some penguins, and probably go skiing.
