After a couple of beers we (Hannah, Claudia, Laura and me) decide to not use our small and not-so-comfty cabins tonight and sleep on the sundeck. Sunchairs with bedsheets are not so bad!
Unfortunately the exhaust of the ship's generator is on the sundeck, which makes sleeping a little hard (especially the noise - the diesel smell is not so bad). I can't sleep until 3 in the night, so I just watch the stars which are incredible - so clear, no city lights, no air pollution. And being on the equator means the milky way is right above your head - while you can hardly see any of it from Berlin.
At 3 or so, the ship starts sailing. The generator noise is dominates by the sound of the waves, and the diesel smell disappears. Unfortunately, we get quite a bit of wind now and it's getting cold. After getting another blanket, I'm fine and I have a short (3 h) but wonderful sleep and wake up with sunrise.
