Last night we had a big BBQ at our hotel - Gary, Sheree, Dan, Heather and Tim came. I prepared the salad, Tim brought the fish and Gary was the grillmaster. That worked well, only that we could have fed another 20 people or so :)
Today I'm flying back to Santiago. Good-bye easter island, I had a blast! For the interested reader, I can recommend easter island if you do engage in a lot of activities and you have the chance to meet people in the place you're staying - Kaimana, the hotel I stayed, is a great option. The owner Marcelo is really a good guy, and it has an open and friendly atmosphere making it easy to meet others.
Personally, I probably wouldn't have gone just to see the Moai's. I suppose if you're interested in the history and study the stones in a more educated way than I did, it's worth it, but for me the combination of diving, binking and meeting great folks really was it. If you plan to go, plan well ahead, because the flights are booked out for weeks or months and they are very expensive if you book on the last minute.
