I managed to get a last-minute ticket to Easter Island (Isla de Pascua) yesterday - literally the last ticket availble within a whole month, probably from a cancellation - and flew out today, with a return flight on sunday (4 days). Isla de Pascua is actually a polynesian island far far in the south pacific, but politically belongs to Chile. This was a 5-hour flight, during which I enjoyed Die Hard 4.0 and Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol in Spanish :-)
You might think that I went to Easter Islands because of the famous Rapa Nui Stone Heads (Moais), but no - I don't care much about stones - I went there because it promised better (warmer) weather, warmer water, good diving conditions, a for sure a feel of holidays. And some stone heads to round it up.
After we landed with a HUGE plane that was full to the last seat, Marcello, the hotel owner I booked with, picked me up and welcomes me by hanging a flower necklace around my head. Yay, holidays!!!
