From Bangkok To LA
Hello!!
On the day we left Rotorua we went to Wai-O-Tapu wonderland, where we saw a geyser erupt which was pretty cool! We did a walk all around the park, and some of the formations were really cool! However, it was very smelly!
After that we were heading towards Ohatune, on the way passing through Taupo. there was a huge lake and you could see the Tongariro N.P, or a bunch of mountains which was really pretty!
We carried on our journey and the views were amazing, and the snow was so thick! We didn't stop as it was pretty busy, however Frank was getting snap happy out of the window!
We arrived in Ohatune mid afternoon and it was like a ghost town, as everyone was up on the slopes!
We found a fairly cheap place to kip for the night, and then the fun began in the morning!
We got the bus up to Mt Ruapeho as the roads were pretty horrible and we didnt fancy driving. It was a really clear day and we could see for miles. we saw Mt Taranaki which is the photo and it was covered in snow!
We reached the top and it was pretty busy and its the school holidays! We got all of our equipment and headed out to the slopes for our beginners lesson! My boots were killing me, but i just thought they were really uncomfortable! Anyway the lesson was really good, and we were on the little beginners slopes! About 10 mins before the end, my feet were agony and i felt a bit faint! Me being a blonde muppet had just carried on with the pain, even though the boots were so tight they were cutting off my circulation, opps! I had a sit down, changed my boots and we were back out on the slope!
I had a major tantrum, because i could get the skiis on, there were a few tears from the stress, but once they were on it was all hunky dorey!
The first run was fine. The second one was fine, but i managed to stack it! But the funniest was Frank fell off the Pummel/button lift which was pretty funny!
We had lots of fun, but it had to end somewhere!
We headed back down the mountain and made our way to Raehiti, as Geraldine and Eric had sorted out for us to stay with their friends! They were really nice. They had a nice warm fire and a friendly cat! We had a ncie dinner (lamb chops) and watched some Tv before bed!
next day we were up early, and headed back up the mountain! Today we had our next step lesson! It was only us and anothe lady who was pretty pants but never mind! It was a horrible day, it was raining the whole time but never mind! The lesson went really well, other than me falling off the lift thing and tripping up 3 people in the process, opps!!
The instructor told us to go up the chairlift onto another beginners slope that was steeper, so we did! First run, we were both wicked! So we went to the top again, I went first and I'd forgotten everything, I couldnt stop so i was wizzing down the slope, people were diving out the way and luckily i managed to stop! I was laughing at myself, expecting to see Frank doing the same, but I couldn't see him! I spent ages looking for him, and then I saw 2 skis.......and then Frank sitting in the snow laughing! We'd both lost it! After that we decided to call it a day! ANother nice night, with a nice warm fire, good dinner and being looked after!
Today was our last day! We had a private lesson today and we were meeting on the harder slope! During the lesson we were both really good! We went down a green run which was going really well! It was really narrow and snowboarders were wizzing past us! i only fell over twice which Frank found hilarious!! She said that the slopes here are 10 times narrower than everywhere else shes been, which is a lot of places so thats my excuse!!
As we headed back up the chairlift, on the way Frank tripped over a little kid and went flying!!
It was the end of our lesson and we decided to try the green run on our own! All was going well, until Frank turned round to see if I was ok, and I managed to crash into him! We were both lying on the ground crying with laughter with only one ski on! WE sorted ourselves out and went off again, about 10 seconds later I crashed into a pole saying easiest route!! hardest route more like!
After that we were both fine, no more falls for the day!
We did a bit of sledging which was fun, although we fell off lots and all the kids laughed at us but never mind!
Once we went back down the mountain we headed for Wellington, we weren't planning to come this far but never mind! were going to try to get a ferry to the South Island tomorrow. The weather here isn't all that good but never mind, lets just hope the ferry isn't cancelled like it was today!!
Were trying to put the photos on, but no where will let us at the mo!You'll have to wait a while for the ski ones as there on a disposable camera!lets hope they come out
Will update soon
Hope everyone is well! We're aching a bit, but atleast no broken bones eh!!
