From Bangkok To LA
After leaving Dunedin we headed for Queenstown! It was a fairly long journey, fortunately we had a nice day for it and the scenery kept us entertained for a while!!
We arrived in Queenstown and went to explore! There was a lovely lake and the mountains around us were pretty cool! Even better though, we found a shop called the British Lolly shop (which was in sydney aswell) so we got some sweets!
We didnt do skiing as we'd already done it in the North Island, plus didnt want to risk crashing into Frank again! Unfortunately I had an eye infection, so had to wear sunglasses the whole time, even in the evening!!
The day we left Queenstown it was raining. we were driving to Haast which would have been really pretty, but we couldnt see anything as the weather was so bad, honestly it was a nightmare, and there was a huge landslide, so half the road was blocked, kind of scary!
We finally reached Haast, and it was tiny, population was 295!! Pretty crazy!
The next stop was the glaciers, Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers! Took a while to drive there, we were hoping the weather would clear up, but it didnt!
We did a short walk to a viewpoint to Foz Glacier which was really pretty, but we couldnt get very close to it! We found a really rickety bridge aswell which was cool, nearly fell off though!
We did a walk to Franz Josef glacier and we could get really close! It was freezing, but really cool to get really close! The mountains looked like they had icing sugar on which was pretty! I dared Frank to jump over a little river which he though he could do easily, guess what, he failed and got even wetter hehe!!
We'd done everything that we had planned to so just had a long drive to North Island with a few stops on the way! We stayed over in a place called Murchison, and it was the scariest place in the world, i didnt have dinner as i was too scared to leave the room, it was horrible! trust me, it was weird, so if anyone comes to NZ don't go there!!
After getting the ferry back to the North, we went to wanganui and went to the top of the Tower, was 176 steps up which was tiring, but the views were worth it! We could even see mt Ruapehu in the distance which was a fair way away!
We're now back in Tairua with geraldine, Eric and the boys Ralph and Guy, and we're having Roast Beef for dinner, can't wait! Makes a change from pasta with Tomato sauce anyway!
Off to Fiji next, can't wait, and only about 10
daystill Mark and rachel come to see us, can't wait!
