Okay so after 5 nights in Hong Kong, flew back to Bangkok for one night. Met my sis again for drinks....this was a mistake. We decided to have a few buckets between us- I AM NEVER HAVING A BUCKET AGAIN!!!! The hangover the next day was the worst I've ever felt in my life. We'd booked an overnight bus (for 12hours) at 6pm the next day. I got out of bed at 5pm....bad times!!! Still made the bus though and it was a lot smoother than our overnight bus in India. Arrived in Chiang Mai about 6.30am and went to our guest house called Julies (the best hostel ever....like EVER!!!) We met so many cool people there which we later travelled with on a trek and to Pai. The first night we went to watch live Thai Boxing which was awesome- not as violent as I thought, althought there were two women fighting and 2 kids at one point which was a bit uncomfortable but it was still really cool. Next day we went to Tiger Kingom and went in cages with small tiger cubs and then the large tigers- seriously never been so scared in my entire life!!! You'll be able to see how scared I was from the photo's. The tigers were called Leonardo Dicaprio, Edward Cullen and Hollywood, so we kinda warmed to them after we knew their names. Went to night bazaar in the evening and booked our trek for the next day.
Next day we had a 2 day trek- one of the hardest things ever. We were walking in the sweltering heat for hours on end. Our group had 10 in. A dutch couple which were hilarious, 2 american girls who were wicked and 3 other brits who were awesome, plus me, ami and jess. We had an elephant ride which was so cool, but scary. Mine and Ami's elephant was so greedy it kept eating everything and nearly chucked us over a cliff in the mean time- bad times!!!! Stayed in a hut, all 10 of us together. Second day of the trek was slightly better, although walking downhill (it was raining in the night, so a bit slippy). Went to a waterfall which we were very grateful of- we all just didn't ever want to come out. Went white water rafting which was amazing and then bamboo rafting after. In the evening when we all got back we all had dinner together at Julies and then played some drinking games, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves when I put them up that is. We went on to a bar and this guy was happily singing with his guitar and a mic.......yea, we stole in and stated doing karaoke- hehe- oops!!!
Next day got the bus to Pai which was frickin horrendous!!! They sell t-shirts here saying 734 curves in the road or something stupid. As we were all up drinking the night before it was NOT pleasant experience for 4 hours. 3 people had their heads out the windows like a pack of dogs....bad times!!! (it wasn't me for once)!! Got here and checked into Breeze of Pai just on the river- beautiful!!! We were still with our friends from Julie's Guest House and we all rented motorbikes for 3 days (sorry Mum- but I've survived to tell the tale). It was awesome. Mine was pink and I named it Candy Cane. I had to give it back earlier which was mortifying!! We went to Pai Canyon, 3 waterfalls and the hot springs. We LOVE Pai. It's so chilled out here and the little restaurants are so cute and we ended up staying another night. Tonight we're on a night bus to the border of Laos, and then the next 2 days we'll spend on the slow boat down the Mekong River.
I'll blog soon.
Again.....I LOVE Pai!!!!
