Arriving in Ghana was immediately shocking... for one your sense of personal space is completely violated and you are not able to do anything but accept it as the people are sooo nice.
The weather is overcast with a muggy warm feeling. It is a really nice feeling. There are tons of people everywhere and the ability to process the sheer experience of actually being in AFRICA is so overwhelming. While I blend into the mix of beautiful hues of black, brown and tan skin my very being is illuminated by the extreme number of beautiful bright smiles and greetings from the people as they see you!
Housing for me (Danielle) is different from the student housing that Samyiah is experiencing. One common factor is the lack of running HOT water, the shower is completely different, there are power switches for each plug.
In addition to all of this jet lag is intense because Africa is 7 hours ahead of California and the program is intense for the next 3wks. The study abroad programs orientation covers sooo much we are busy from early morning to late evening....
