Hi all, We had a nice said from Nassau to Roseau, Dominica. We spent two days there. Gary was coming down with a cold so we stayed close to the ship. We did go on a tour and took a tram over the rainforest. It was beautiful and virgin. The next day we walked around the little town 2 hotels, 3 dining spots, several bars and a couple of touristy stores. Oh I almost forgot 2 jewelry stores.
Dominica, a Caribbean Island, is 754 sq.miles, It is a mountainous volcanic island with rainforest. The pop. is 72,000. They have a high number of people that live to be over 100. Nearly everything needs to be imported.
After we left Dominica the Atlantic got rough. The first night we did not sleep much, not only because of the rocking, but the clunking. Meantime Gary's cold got worse. He has pretty much been in bed ever since. He went to the doc yesterday and the doc said it just had to wear out.
It is early in the trip but it has been hard meeting people. Gary being sick is not helping. The Lifelong Learners, now known as the Sea Salts, meet everyday at 4:30p.m., but the program is too rigid for us. We would like to have more social time. I am sure things will work out. The students are great, friendly and welcoming.
We are now entering the Amazon river. The water is not blue anymore, we can see the forrest and it is very smooth.
Will get back to you after our viist to Manaus. We miss you all.
