Hi all, Iam giving this a try. I am sorry if I do not have your e-mail address included. If those of you who get this could let me know so I will be able to add addresses.
Well we got stuck in the biggest snow and ice storm that Atlanta has ever seen. After arriving there on schedule we found out all flights were cancelled for the 10th, that day. We started calling hotels for a room and we had to call about 8 before we found one. Then we headed for the taxi line. We stood outside in the below freezing tempatures for two hours when we learned that the drivers that were brave enough to come to the airport had their choice as to where to take passengers. Needless to say, thay didn't want to go where we needed to go. It was getting pretty roudy. Finally a driver took mercy on us and with two strangers took us to the motel we had booked. There were no restuarants open so Gary walked to a service station and got us some heat up in the mircrowave burritoes. The room was warm and it was good to have a bed. The next morning the snow/rain had stopped but the tempatures dropped and the roads were ice. Again we had a taxi problem. We called several before one came. He got us to the airport but on the way we saw the traffic going south was completelly stopped by big rigs stuck on the ice. They had been there all night and it didn't look like they were moving soon. Our driver did not know how he would get home. At the airport we chedked in our bags. A very good thing since we were trying to juggle six bags. It also meant out flight had a good chance of leaving. Only 30 some flights out of 400 were scheduled to leave that day and fortuantely we were one of them. We arrived at the dock a little later than check in time, and again we had six bags to try to get thru the terminal to the ship. A security man saw our plight and helped us. Finally at about 3:30 on the 11th we were on our ship. Our room is very nice, the food is very good and we even have a spa on-board. It is much fancier than my previous trip.
The six hundred students are arriving today. We have aroung 60 Lifelong Learners. We feel very Blessed to have made it this far. Will try to keep you posted. The internet is limited becausse it is satalite.
