Luckily we had a fan in our room because it was hot! Woke up to have a nice cold shower (there is no hot option anyway!) before walking a few miles down the beach with some of the guys. We saw a lot of sea cratures, an onion, washed up clothing, boats, an abandoned ball, you name it we saw it! Little did we know... That 10 o'clock sun is pretty hot! Followed by laying in the sun with the girls for a while... Result = BURNT. It was time to invest in some aftersun, in a big way!
Matt and Josh rented a surf board for 20 soles (US$8) which was highly entertaining from the sand. Jekka can surf really well so tried to teach them some moves...
Britt, Aimie, Nat, Jen and I went for lunch at a local place on the water front. It was delicious! We all had some 'inca cola' which is just like cream soda (yellow) and very sweet, too sweet. Probably a once off but it's worth trying! Especially when in Peru it is the only place where Inca Cola is more popular than Coca Cola.
Then it was shopping time at the markets! I bought some green 'gap year trousers' and a small peru purse for my change. Britt and Aimie went and had their hair braided! Very pretty. Due to there being so many tourists the market people aren't quite so accomodating when we try to bargin but I have managed to not pay full price for anything (if you know me, you will know that I haven't changed!).
Jekka wanted us to go to a nice resteraunt she knew of for dinner. It was very nice! For the first time all of our meals came out on time and there were no drama's with paying or getting too many drinks... It is becoming a bit of a pattern for us! But I also think that here it might not be such an important factor to have your food all together as it is in Western cultures. I had a delicious mango, thai salad and the limonada was brilliant too!
I am currently obsessed with mangos! And for just 1 sole each... Why not?
Cards, chilling, lathering on aftersun and chatting filled the rest of the evening for us all. Bliss.
