Left the hostel at 5am sharing the taxi with two other girls on the same flight. Aimie and Josh gave me an amazing mango as a leaving present which I gladly ate for breakfast!
The flight went very quickly and Cusco didn't seem like much flying over it. Quite rustic and plain. I checked into my next hostel, The Point Cusco, which was quite different to the last. Very full of people and not nearly as friendly.
Fortunately two of the girls who I was on tour with, Brit and Sheri, were in Cusco also so I met up with them to explore. It just goes to show that first impressions aren't everything! Cusco is a phenomenal city. I have fallen in love with it. The cobble stones, the people, the architecture, the atmosphere. It is definitely one of my favourite cities along with Edinburgh. The main plaza is lovely also with a beautiful statue featuring lots of colourful flowers. It is surrounded by stunning buildings with creative terraces and everything has such great attention to detail. We then met another girl from the tour, Alice, when it was dark and saw the city at night. It only expanded my love for this place. Make sure you see it at night should you go.
We wandered into one of the shops that sells all of the typical touristy scarves, alpaca jerseys etc. Little did we know the shop keepers were going to attack us with colourful outfits and head wear and get us to dance around! I think it was more for their entertainment but we had a great time!
I want to live here!!
