The night bus was fun! It was when we arrived at the bus station that the real 'fun' began... One of the guys in our group, Matt, went to the bathroom and left his stuff with the rest of the group. When he came back and we were leaving to get our transfer he suddenly said, "Have you guys seen my backpack?". We looked but it had gone. It turns out that there was a guy trying to show us all something on a big map and that was enough to distract us and for his partner to get in and steal his backpack. The thing was... That backpack had everything in it, passport, money, big camera, hiking boots, rain jacket etc. So it was a big day at the embassy for Matt! It made us all much more aware that it can happen anytime, anywhere.
The rest of us sorted laundry which is so easy. You drop it down the road and pick it up in 2 hours paying 5 soles per kg (US$2). Wonderful!
Then we explored Lima a bit, off to the Catacomb temple. There were so many bones in the dungeons and it was very spooky down underground. The decoration was beautiful.
I bought an alpaca jersey! It is by far my best buy so far. I love it!
We had a final group dinner with Jeka at Songoro Cosongo in Barranco. It was so yummy. Lomito Saltado seems to be my thing. The goodbye speeches were sad but we finished going to a lovely look out and seeing the Jesus statue in the distance all lit up and looking very impressive. They have these in most of the cities as protection.
Over and out!
