Still waking up nice and early with the 5 hour time difference! Alas, the show must go on and Ecuador must be explored some more. Alice and I decided to go to the view point on the cable cars so we could see some more of Quito. The taxi's in Quito are incredibly cheap! It is amazing. Once up the top of TerrifiQo we were completely blown away by the shear size of Quito. It is GINORMOUS! It spreads so far and so many different layers and levels. After taking some fun photos we thought we could wander for a bit to get a bit higher... Well altitude had different ideas! We had to stop after each 30 steps! It was like we stopped more then we walked as we were embarrasingly puffed and exasperated! Luckily everyone else was in the same boat considering we were over 4000m above sea level.
It was hopping out of the taxi when the drama began {clearly it was getting a little quiet on the dramatic ecounters) my cute little money purse I brought yesterday flew out of my pocket and into the drain at my feet... These local lads saw this and were so kind. All trying to help - pulling at the drain cover, stretching their arms towards the dirty, polluted drain water or bending wire to try and hook the purse. This was an experience I will never forget. Luckily Alice is very resourceful and managed to hook it with a carabina and shoelace so problem solved!
Once back at La Cartuja I met with my crew for some cards, lots of cheat and crazy eights. Team banter consisted of exchanging our different names for things, impersonating each other and competitive streaks came out! Comfort levels with these guys has rocketed in a matter of hours - all of us are like minded and enjoying the travelers lifestyle.
