The tacos managed to run right through some of our group so Matt, Sheri and Brit stayed back to sort that out!
The rest of us were feeling as healthy as can be so went to see some more of Cuenca. This city is not as culturally interesting as the others, as it does't really have a vibe to it. It is pretty civilised and lots of people about instead of the feeling I felt in Quito and Banos. Maybe we missed the best part!? So little time...
Although we did see a beautiful church that was absolutely enormous. Religion has some incredible architecture. The markets were really lovely and colourful too. Lunch consisted of some spag bowl and a lemonade for a mere $1.50. That is crazy that they make anything from that price.
After lunch we went for a tour of the Panama Hat factory. It is the original and main one and the Ecuadorians call the hats, sombreros de paja torquilla' as they are not made in Panama (A sensitive topic...!). They had every colour and shape you can imagine. I will never look at a hat the same way! The process of weaving it, shaping it and then ironing it is something astounding.
Brit was feeling better so we relaxed out the front of the hotel in some confy chairs before going to a sweet cafe for a hot choccy! It was so unbelievably good.
I finally tried ceviche! It was so good. Just my sort of food. I love seafood and I love citrus flavours so raw fish marinated in a lemon lime juice with onions and peppers is IDEAL. Definitely more of that to come!
