We were to head off aroynd 9.30am so once loaded onto our transfer off we went! It was a "lovely" 8 hour bus ride... Now that's not something you hear very often!
I bought a cute new shoulder bag at the local market en route. Also managing to haggle the price from $6 to $4! With my limited spanish that is quite the achievement.
Paying for loo paper and not putting it down the loo afterwards (in bins provided) is still something to get used to.... The small things you do suddenly appreciate or become aware of.
We found our hotel after getting incredibly lost and then finding a taxi driver that we could follow!! Hotel La Casona is our pick for Cuenca. Alice and I are sharing again which is great! The Norwegian girls have the biggest room you can imagine and a balcony! You win some you lose some...
We found a cheap looking place for dinner, Mexicana! Although we soon realised why the dishes were cheap... I think we must make everyone nervous when we walk in together! Because Aimie and my meals didn't turn up so we cancelled them and bought a $2 burger which was DELICIOUS!
By this time we all had quite a bit of energy considering we had been sitting in a bus for so long. So we went into the massive room and played cards, built human pyramids, handstands, matchbox tests! Just basically mucked around until we were told to be quiet. Then we watched a film in Spanish for a while!
Negative on the hammock front, so off we went to have a good night sleep...
