Fantasy Fest & Miami Halloween!
Next year, if you fancy a get-away go to KEY WEST, Florida for the Fantasy Fest. It happens at the end of Oct every year. It's full of random parties for 4 days - wet t-shirt party, red party(everyone wears red), recyle party, nude party, toga party.....the list goes on! It is acceptable during these 4 days, no matter your age to walk around naked and have your body painted! It was shocking, I did not know where to look! It wasn't just the 'pretty' bodies...it was EVERY shape, EVERY size.....anything goes on these 4 days of the 'Fantasy Fest'! Huge parades, parties.....oh yes!
I have to say I have had THE best time the last few days there. WE kicked off the first full day on an all day boat trip doing 'water sports' (on every level! ;-)) It was run by a company called 'Sebago' and I did the 'Power Adventure' then 'Champagne Sunset Sail'. I did Parasailing, snorkelling, went on banana boat ride, water trampoline, jet skiing and had free alcohol all day! Well..I say that I had to wait till 1pm till I went on the jet-ski, as they wouldn't let you drink and drive! Good Job!
On the boat trip I met this dude who was in his early 30's and was being 'nice' but creepy......he helped me snorkel and took photos of me with his underwater camera! He then was talking about his wife and 6month old kid, but kept on taking photos of me and him.....he asked if I was "in a hot tub - I mean facebook"....I walked away....was abit odd. However, I recieved and email from him yesterday with some cool photos...so thanks! I think! Just was abit odd...that wouldn't happen in UK, you'd be put in a cell!
Sunset cruise came along after an hour back on land with a few shots at the bar in 'Sloppy Joes' on Duvel street (the street to be!) I don't remember too much, but there are funny photos that Melanie and Ruth took, which pieced together some bits... I drove the boat at one point (obviously drinking and riving doesnt matter on this boat), then I remember runnin gup to the bar man and grabbing his arm/arse etc as I was all over the place...not so hot I guess... but put it this way, once I got off the boat he grabbed my arm and was like 'hey!! You're just walking away or what?" and he gave me his number to call him once he'd finished cleaning up the bar on the boat once we'd docked.
His name is Gabe or 'boat boy' I like to call him! He says he's 28yr old, but I'm not so sure as he slipped up in a conversation and said something along the lines of having an 'older woman'...the conversation was in his bedroom......anyway! Enough of that! He took me to 'Denny's' (as that the only thing food wise open at 4am) and after some stuff dropped me off at the campsite at 8.30am. The tour left at 9am....haha! Good times! He wants me to go back for his day off on Sunday.....not sure yet as I've just got to the Grand Caymans....more on that soon!
Halloween - I have to say was well odd. AJ, Ruth and Nells were still left in Miami, so we hunted down some costumes in Walgreens off Collins Ave (yes! I AM the main Ave in Miami!) Ruth and I ended up getting black hair stray, flashing ghost lights, face paints and plastic spiders. We kinda made ourselves into Vampires...was fun! Thing was when we left the hotel every one we passed were not in sotume at this point, but we were staying up at the Ocean Surf Hotel next to Miami Beach - not South Beach (where all the clubs/shops are etc - it's a 20min bus ride for $2 so south beach). We got looks as to be fair 2 vampire brides with random hair and scary faces were sitting at a bus stop! Once we got down to south beach...EVERYONE was dressed up. There was a scary Obama, nurses, policemen/women, Bert & Ernie, smurfs (yes those blue things!) and well...anything you can think of. People even took there little toy dogs out and dresed them up...I saw a dog dressed as a ladybird, a bee and a princess.... It was a cross between England's New Years eve and a carnival. Everyone of all ages were just walking and packed into the pedestrian mall by 17th, having photos taken with each other. Nothng was happening in the clubs as the party was on the streets.... music was odd! Chilled out carribean music with a beat.... really odd!
Went to a Beach party at the Ritz Carlton. The chilled carribean dance music was Dj'd and there were fairy lights, a pool, and fairy dancers dancing around, fire eaters etc. It was strange as it was like watching CSI as in the cool chilled upper class parties! I was there! funny seeing the really old men with young girls who were surely only with them for their money! Halloween is just not what I thought it would be in AMERICA, but to be fair I think it was Halloween Miami style.... It's all about THE coolest costume and how many photos you can get with random other dressed up folk - plus of course the drinking gatherings on the mall!
Did a spot of shopping in Miami the next day and seeing a drug bust in the streets! We went upto Adventura Mall (like London's Westfield and had a HUGE xmas display/santa grotto up and running already on 1st Nov!) and saw Michael Jackson's This Is IT' with Ruth. Had this 3yr old kid dancing in front of me (which was cute!) and everyone clapping after each song (that happen when you saw it?!). THIS IS IS - no doubt would've been amazing! I think the dude was pretty funny from watching it and I loved it when he said 'we do this for LOVE L.O.V.E and spelt it.
The mall was closed on the way out from the film so we couldnt get back to the bus stop the way we knew....we ended up literally walkina around the whole of the biggest mall ever going through car parks, through sprinklers, through palm trees, rocks etc for well over 20min....eventually we got back! We basically shoulda turned left I guess! Opps!
Did glamourous washing today and decided to book a flight to the Cayman islands. Ruth leaving tomorrow morning and I needed to see my peeps at X1071 (being the voice and all that!) 4 hours later (after a beach session in THE most clean and blue sea ever) I got to Miami airport and now I'm in the Grand Cayman! I wonder what trouble I can cause here.....
