So I'm back in Key West, Florida.....lying on a kingsize bed with a hurricane blasting outside. I'm here flat on my back with my arm in a sling! OK, maybe I should explain this more. After I eventually was allowed to enter the states after the trouble I had in the Cayman Islands, I had to wait 40minutes to get through immagration looking at my watch as bus to Key West left at 5pm. I landed at 4pm. It was tight!! I had to ask at the help desk in the airport where the key west shuttle went from and she said she didn't know!!! Erm.......yeah she worked at a tourist help desk at the airport. Maybe she was 'break cover' (we can only hope this) - good luck if you get into Miami international! Help is not really that helpful! Finally got on the Keys Shuttle with this long haired tattoed guy driving us the 3 hours. He was called Roman.
I got into Room 363 at the Sheraton suites after having an odd woman at reception give me the most odd looks all the time. Not that friendly!
Next morning - Saturday 7th Nov, I had an amazing lie in on my kingsized bed. I was like a huge starfish using up every bit of space.....so comfy! The room was abit like a palace. I have a livingroom with a huge TV and corner sofa, dining table and kitchen on one side. Huge walk in shower and bathroom plus another TV in the bedroom with kingsize bed ;o) Funny thing is the TV remote turns both TV's on. For example I turn off the one in my room with the remote control 'power' button and it turns on the one in the livingroom! Abit annoying! Oh well.
Got atext around midday, just after my lie in and a shower from 'boat boy' asking if I had made it back to Key West! I replied straight away with 'yep, just hoping in a hot shower, you can come over if you'd like - room 363'. 10min later (i kid you not!) he was at my door saying "house keeping" in a very bad female impression voice. So yeah...you don't want those details. Just sooo funny how quick he came over after that text I sent! haha!
We chilled and stuff, went to the 'Cabana' bar downstairs by the pool, drank and ate, then went off onto Duval street. Oh yes! I'm back Key West!!! ;o)
Went to 'Alonzo's' hapy hour fish resturant for several half priced drinks and oysters and conch! Then we prowels a few bars to see if we could see my X1071 boys.....but it was like looking for needles in a haystack! We didn't try too hard to be honest...just checked Sloppy Joes, Riks and like 2 others quickly! Several drinks later and remembering 'boat boy' pulling me to the floor of a hotel drive way and security lady telling us where to go! Shockingly (yeah this would never happen i England) after over 10 cocktails and falling everywhere 'boat boy' drove us back to the hotel, via his room for toothbrush, taco take out and liqour store... back to the room....had an hour sleep then boat boy woke me up and said he wanted to go to the Jacuzzi. I was like 'serious....its 3am, it closed at 11pm'. We got in the door, so it was not locked. Went in the Jacuzzi ;o)
Sunday morning we had our lie in after the jacuzzi we had at like 3am for a few hours....nice! He disappeared to go to the gas station to get something. He took ages, so I actually thought at one moment that he would not be back! He turned up about a hour later as he went via his house to sort himself and bought over some apples and gator aid. good man! Spent most of day eatting, drinking and in jacuzzi again. Soo hot after 3hours that I was about to check out the pool. I dipped my toe in and before I knew it (for a laugh!) boat boy nudged me in the pool. It was the deep end. I was holding onto the stair handle and dipping my toe in. My arm twisted around and I ended up in the water (obviously!). Suddenly I couldnt feel my right arm AT ALL. I screamed in pain and struggled out of the pool. My arm was dandling and in sooo much pain. I thought I'd sooo broken it. I just kept saying 'thats sooo uncool. not cool' to boat boy. 5minutes later while hugging my arm and unsure at what just happened from something so lame as a nudge in the pool. My arm popped back in its socket. I screamed again and bascially could now feel with my arm but could still hardly move it. I started to try and do the 'Jackson 5 - moonlight' hand dance to see if I could get movement....i could abit, but v v v v painful.
Grabbed some gin and tonic from the liqour store and went back to my room. Iced my shoulder and watched 'Hitch' on TV. Boat boy then went home around 11pm as he had to get up at 6am and needed some sleep in after the last few nights.....
Monday morning.....arm is killing. Rung up insurnace company and prepared them that quite frankly something aint right and I'm off to South America this Sunday so help! Went off to A&E on stock island in a taxi. Waited for hours and hours - over 5 hours the whole a&e experience. There was this dude brought in while I was waiting who was as drunk as a skunk. He was talking a random language and English. He was saying 'f*** u guys if I want a f***ing fag I'll have one f***ers' and things like that. Not alot of it made sense. It was amusing it took him 10minutes to work out how to put his flip flop on (he was doing it the wrong way around!). Suring check-out of the a&e I paid the bill, well infact I paid sumone elses medical bill as the f***ed up!! Taxi lady came for me again, took me to 'publix' and I got my drugs....Valium and some hardcore pain killers. So I'm now sat here on my back with my arm in a sling and taking drugs! I didn't miss much today as a hurricane is passing us here in the Gulf 'Hurricane ida'. Was an experience last night at 3am (as I couldnt sleep coz of shoulder/arm pain) as I went to get ice from the ice machine in my little shorts. Wind howling 25mph, could see high waves (as room looks out onto sea), plus an electric red 'exit' sign dangling dangerously in the wind as it had been riped off the wall by the wind. Glad hurriane passing, but you have to feel sorry for New Orleans...its heading that way.... Oh well! Sun should be back on Wednesday and then there are like huge power boat races here in Key West till Friday! Cannot wait! I've been asked if I'd like to go out with the coast guards and get close to the action. I met a coast guard on the boat trip I was on the other week (when I met the famous boat boy!)
