Today has been sightseeing day! Brodie and I were up at 5am for breakfast - good old time difference adjustments. We're trying very hard to get into the local time zone as soon as we land, again the kids are adjusting really well, I've decided they have latent travelling genes that are now being activated!
Roz, Jat and Mia took us into Oxford Circus where we had a wee wander, found Hamleys, the biggest toy store ever - 4 storeys of toys! The kids went wild!, Brodie was entranced with the magician so we bought him a magic kit and then he spent some of his pocket money, but I'll let him tell you about that. Last June we set up ASB bank accounts at school for them so every week they chose how much of their pocket money to save. In a year they both managed to save $600+ each and so now they get to choose what they can spend and at the same time come to grips with exchange rates which they find very unfair as it halves the amount of money they have :(
We went to the most amazing health food store for lunch with such an array of fresh salads, meals, sandwiches, cakes etc a great concept which would work so well in NZ! Then it was off on a double decker bus to view the sights of London. Such a great way to see the city! We started in Picadilly, stopped off at Buckingham palace where there was a mass of ladies dressed to the nines for a garden tea party at the palace, on to Big Ben where we hopped off for a walk along the Thames under the London Eye, a quick merry go round ride for the kids and onto a boat up to the Tower of London. We had just enough time to see the Crown Jewels and the torture chamber and weapons much to Brodie's delight before closing time then it was onto the tube for the rush hour experience!
We're certainly packing in the maximum but loving every minute!
Quote of the day from Brodie " it doesn't seem real, it feels like a dream!"
