Day 20: There is nothing like bush camping: the sound of dingoes calling to each other, insects playing their evening tunes, and sunrise...at 5.30 AM!
So the day starts early. So what?! We went to bed at 7.30. The boys are up and exploring the river bed, and Craig and I enjoy a lovely bacon and egg sanga with a cuppa. THIS. IS. LIVING!
We head to our first walks of the day, at the most famous part of the Bungles (the pictures you see in all the brochures), and enjoy several walks amongst these amazing rock formations. Totally different from all the others we have seen.
By 10.30 it is stinking hot, but fortunately we have made it to the Cathedral. A sheer rock face with a beautiful rock pool at the base.
We stay here for several hours admiring the beauty and splashing in the pool. The boys have a ball, swimming, catching frogs (or baby cane toads, we're not 100% sure which), face painting with ochre they ground up themselves and collecting tiny marble-like stones.
Back at the campsite we have lunch and a break. We bump into some people we camped next to in Kununurra, Bruce and Annie, and decide to do the afternoon walk and sunset lookout together.
Another amazing chasm that we follow along the creek bed, right to its very end...awesome! We speed off to the lookout, with minutes to spare, and get to see the sunset shine on these most amazing ranges.
A beautiful end to a magnificent day. Well nearly. The best part of the end of this day is the solar shower under the milky way...nothing like that fresh feeling. Man I love camping!
