Saturday evening's dinner was delicious and V was a wonderful hostess. Every time we felt we had eaten our fill some more food appeared!
On Sunday morning we went to church with Pat. The church is very much like ours and we felt completely at home. There was a lovely family feel to the fellowship and the worship was so like Cleddau.
In the afternoon we went to the Stainback Nature Reserve. D, our guide, was very enthusiastic and wanted us to see EVERYTHING! He went ahead of us, crouching at every pile of dung, poking it and sniffing it. At one point he came running back and pointed at a junction on the path "Do not go that way - Death is there! I see a human!"
Did I mention that D is only 6?
With some guidance from his dad we found ourselves face to face with a herd of zebra. I honestly had no idea that they were so beautiful. I have some wonderful photos which I will add when I get home. We also saw bucks (deer) and a some monkeys.
We came home to a bbq in the rain - we were fine sitting under the awning of the house - and we went to bed absolutely full and shattered - at 9 o'clock!
On Monday we went to the hospital. Before reaching the Angels of Mercy department we stopped so I could take photos of the monkeys. I love them!
While we were sorting donations Pat phoned and said that she had heard from the police that little Y's grandmother had been taken to the Wentworth hospital (where AoM is based) and could we please ask on the female wards to see if she was still there or find her address. We had the date she entered the hospital and a Christian name so we went from ward to ward and then to the admissions office. They sent us to A&E and we managed to get a full name for her.
My only experience of hospitals has been Withybush and sadly there are times there when you can see that the staff are so overworked that they have little time to reassure the patients, let alone the relatives. Here, although they are strict with the visiting hours, stricter in some ways, and the wards look old fashioned and seem to be without the comforts that we take for granted, the staff are extremely caring and welcoming. The two sisters we dealt with could not do enough for us, making call after call to try and locate the grandmother.
Sadly we still haven't found her - she was sent home from hospital on the same day, she left no address and no details of next of kin. So little Y is still with us. Still smiling, still keeping us all wrapped around her little finger where we belong!
Today we are heading to the Mall to shop till we we drop! No, not for us but for Angels! There are some things that the charity needs desperately and they will be our first priority. If Pat sees anything that they would like we will go for those as well. It is so lovely to be able to help a charity that is so desperately needed here.
