Our first destination in Botswana was Chobe National Park. As well as seeing lions, leopards, elephants and hippos galore, we had a slightly wilder time there than we'd bargained for. A 10 foot croc arrive in our campsite and proceed to try and bite it's way through our guide's tent! We are not kidding! Thankfully nobody was hurt as one of the Aussies on our trip threw a whopping great brick at it's head and it disappeared into the water!
The remaining wildlife encounters in Chobe NP were slightly less shocking - we saw lions and leopards, completing our Big 5 sightings and lots more hippos and elephants on a sunset cruise.
From Chobe we went Maun and then onto the Okovanga Delta. We were transported by Mokoro boats to a camp right in the heart of the National Park. We were there for 2 nights with no running water or toilets, so we were truely roughing it! We also had to stay within the confines of the camp and watering hole, apart from guided walking safaris, which were amazing if not a little hairy when we found ourselves face to face with two gynormous elephants and in the same vicinity as a herd of stampeeding bufallo. Eeekk!
After we returned to Maun we took a very bumpy plane ride across the delta which managed to make everybody feel very sick, although the stunning views and wildlife made it worth it.
From Maun we drove to the Namibian border...
