Hey Hey Everyone
So i have moved on from Mission Beach, where my skydive got rained out. I was really gutted as it was the only reason i went to Mission, and the weather just made it so boring (so boring in fact, i only took 1 photo of Scottys Beach House, my hostel i stayed in!). But nevermind, as one adventure ends, another begins. I met two guys at Scotty's whilst i was waiting for the bus, Adam and Shez. These guys are legends, Manchester lads and up for a laugh. I clicked with them straight away, and was really chuffed to hear they were going down to Maggie aswell.
So, on the bus we hop, and after a lot of card playing, chilling out, reading, and eating, we get to Townsville, port for Maggie Island. Now, the weather had picked up, and we were getting excited about having some beers, so we statred on the ferry over. Unfortunately, it was so bumpy, on Adams beer run he kept stacking it and falling into random people, all of which were not impressed. However, me and Shez found this all very amusing. The Aussie were just saying "Bloddy Pom's, can't stand up proper!" but who cares.
Got to Base which is a WICKED hostel. It had a full moon party scheduled for Friday night, and a fully stocked bar. So, bags dropped in the rooms, we hit the bar. Firey was our driver, who had been giving it the large all the way down the coast about how much of a drinker he was and how great tonight was gonna be. Ended up that he just loved to play drinking games that got you naked - not thanks Firey, i think i'll pass! Everyone just ignored him and sat on the deck. Chilled out, had some beers, met loads of really cool people (see photos) and hit the sack about 2am.
Up at 10 to get my breaky in - the Hangover fry up - and plan our day. We had heard that there was some cool walks (!!) to do, and in an attempt to impress my parents by actually embracing some culture, i thought that would be a great idea. Only problem was we needed a car. So i popped along to reception, asked the question and soon enough, a scouse lady rocked up to take me to the "Mooks and Topless car rental" depo. Great i think, Pestell and the lads had told me to get a mook, so thats what i did. Problem was they didn't have any, so i get whatever was avaliable, which happened to be "Florence" (see the photos). She was a true POCKET ROCKET. 0-60 in 5mins, 53 seconds, electric pink interior, cassette player with single speaker, i mean this was just a pimp-mobile. Westwood eat your heart out! So off we go, looking very manly in our lovely pink car, to do the walks. Saw a Koala on one of them, which was pretty cool. Problem is because we were all paranoid about snakes, you didn't really look around more than about 4 yards in front of you on the floor, and everytime there was arustle in the undergrowth we all froze!
So, back to Base after a spot of dinner to get the drinks in again. We had passed a few traditional Aussie Bars, the kind where macho men stand out the front. We had a great time driving past as about 15 blokes, mouth open and aghast, watch as 3 English lads cruise past at a snails pace in the pink-mobile! We were tempted to shout "are you coming my way?" but they might have run after us and shown us how to play knifey-spoony! Glad to be alive, we got some beers in, and had a real fun night playing drinking games (Brucey was played so much it's untrue, if you haven't played it i'll show it you when i'm back - we played it in Kos though!)
Wednesday morning we played golf. After drining over to the course, ahving hidden all the way so that no-one see's us, we pay and get out on the course. I went round in a cool 56 (par 33!) which dad would have been appaled at. Got some good action shots of us though, so check them out. Technically Shez should have gone round in 100+, as on the 6th (a par 3) he lost 7 balls from the tea! He has a real talent for hitting the ball at right angles - you could stand right in front of him and have no fear of the ball coming anywhere near you. Spent the afternoon relaxing, and spent the night getting....well you should know by now! DRUNK!!
So we get to Thursday, and head off for Airlie Beach - we've been told its like Kavos so i straight away think open sewer and Knotty and Svon getting so hammered they have to be carried home, but i'm sure it's not that bad. Thats where i am now and thats where i'll be till next week. We've got our Whitsundays tour over the weekend. On a boat called Wings, which is a dive boat so i can do some more Nemo finding - love it - and after that it's Fraser Island for the camping and driving around!. Shez and Adam have been wicked company, and Luke, Danny, Mark and May (see photos) are all here as well, so we've got a proper gang. We're not all in the same place here though - they are in Magnums and we are in Beaches hostel - but i'm sure we will bump into them whilst stumbling around.
So your up-to-date. I have finally put photos on for you all, so take a look. Not anything of interest, but it's fun.
If your not in Oz, your not anywhere.....
Love ya, miss you all, and thinking of you loads
