quiggsy on tour
So technically this is not a message from Ilha Grande but I wanted to finish this thing properly, if only for myself!
We left Rio (a very sad day), laden with bags containing all the tat gathered between Ecuador and Rio. Bit of a mission getting a bus to Angra dos Reis and then a boat to the island itself, but we managed it. Luckily there was a friendly little chappie on hand at the dock who worked at our hostel who helped us cart it all down there. Our hostel, Aquario, was a gorgeous place on the edge of the one (pretty small) town on Ilha Grande. The place was so chilled out - a nice change from Rio to be honest - think hammocks next to the beach (and the bar....).
The night we arrived our hostel had a barbeque and a bit of a party which was much fun as usual (table dancing, again!) and Faye discovered a new favourite drink to add to our repertoire - vodka and passionfruit frozen smoothie thing, soon the whole place was drinking them!
The next day we went on a hike (and yes I would say it was actually a hike) to a beach on the other side of the island. The island is really beautiful, thick forested mountains (well ok hills) surrounded by sandy beaches. It was a lovely place to spend a few days trying to get a tan before coming home.
My last few days were spent in Sao Paulo where I met up with one of my friends from my Lyon days (Adalberto for those in the know) which was really fun. I was glad that we were with people who knew the place and knew good places to go out.
I was very sad to leave South America, but I have some fantastic memories of the place and I'm already planning where I will go next time I visit! But nice to get home to some home comforts (my bed!).
And so my next adventure begins.... London woohoo (o yeah and a 'proper' job.....)!!
