Well, it's been a long day! We headed to Canada, on the advice of everyone we talked to, at 6:00 this morning. It only took a minute to get through the border, as we were the only people on the bridge! The train tour, 114 miles into
Canada was great. A lot of beautiful scenery, lakes galore. We arrived in Agawa Canyon, and spent 1 1/2 hrs there. We hiked (again!) to a very small waterfall. Also walked along the river, then went back to the train for lunch from the dining car. Paid $7.25 each for ham & cheese & a roast beef & cheese sandwich.
Arrived back at the train station around 6, and headed for the bridge. We were back across in approx. 10 minutes! Worked out great for us. Drove the hour down I-75 to St. Ignace, and saw their lighthouse, then crossed the Mighty Mac to Mackinac City. Drove around the Fort, and saw the Old Mackinac Lighthouse. We ate at a place called Darrows, and the food was great. Hurried back to the bridge to try to catch the sunset and watch the bridge light up for the night.
Found our hotel, and decided to call it a night. Starting the long haul home tomorrow, heading part-way down the West coast of Michigan.
Talk to you later!
