Hey everyone!
What a day! For those who don't already know, our day could not have started off much worse. We discovered late last night that the lightening strike on Wed. night got the compressor in our freezer, as well as the pump for our pool! Spent last night moving what food I could into the refrigerator freezer. Mom & Dad came up this morning and took the rest to their house. Dave went to town, bought a new pump for the pool. On top of all of this, the State Dept called and would have Dave's passport ready to be picked up in Chicago. We had a 3:00 appt. We left home at 11:10. Got downtown, no parking, so we did a chinese fire drill! I drove around the block three times while Dave was inside (saved the $32 parking fee!). Another fire drill, and we were on our way out of the city.
Finally, starting to relax, and feel like I might be on vacation! After about 30 min on the Interstate, Dave had had enough! We took Hwy 41 then had detour to Hwy 32, which ended up being the road closest to the lake. (as the movie Cars says, get off the interstate, see America!) It was a really pretty drive, and we got to see the three lghthouses pictured. Also had our first homeless person ask us for money!
Got to the hotel, which looked a little concerning.........but ended up being clean and basic (the price was right!). Had supper at Legend Larry's, home of the "best Hot Wings in the World". They were pretty good!
Going to have a long day tomorrow. I'll fill you in later!
