Erica's travels through Eastern Europe and Russia
[Sunny] St. Petersburg, Russia - It's sultry here in Sunny St. Petersburg. There isn't much humidity, so it's not too bad. Had some good salads since I've been here, an eggplant and carrot salad, a spicy carrot salad, a tuna a peppar salad (filled with vegetable oil and then refrigerated - that one wasn't so nice). I also tried the local veggies at the store, I got so excited that one store took my visa card that I bought about $15 worth of veggies. It felt nice to give plums to the beggars. I hope it improved my karma.
I've had a string of bad luck; I lost my glasses, and my wrinkle-free solution spilled all over my business attire and stained my suits and ruined my shoes. I sincerely hope after I wash them they'll be OK. If not *shrug*, I'm sure I'll be fine.
In other news, the interview with Hanno Gundert went very well, and has made me all the more interested in Russian business (particularly corporate social responsibility). Now I'm positive this is what I'd like to do with my energies. Tomorrow I'll interview Maria C., the Executive Director of the AmCham St. Petersburg, so I'm busy preparing for that. Other than that, all is well. I'm getting lost and finding my way back as usual, but I think my sense of direction is actually improving! I don't really like using maps (although I can, thank you :)).
Anyway, all is going very well. I hope to visit a riverside in the next few days so I can relax and read a little bit. Met a Canadian journalist who is interested in my views on Russian Business after my conference and the G8, so I might get even more publication - Ahoy, world, here I come!
