10 Things I Love About Amsterdam:
-English: everyone speaks it and are comfortable doing so when they find out you don't speak Dutch.
-The Buildings and Architecture: they have a unmistakable, (and super cute) style...I want one.
-The Food: Omg, it's fresh, innovative, multicultural and amazing
-The People: I have never been to a more friendly country. We just met some unfriendly people for the first time and it was weird.
-Bicycles: There are 400,000 bikes in this city, for many it is their main mode of transport and I wouldn't doubt that there are more bikes than cars.
-Laid Back Culture: The stairs to our apartment are so steep, if you fell, you would die and the light is unreliable- this would never happen in NA. Bikes, trains, cars, scooters and pedestrians share the street and it all works out. The existence of the Red Light District (gonna blog about that later!) and drugs for sale in the convenience store... need I say more.
-History: This place oozes with old, buildings, biking, historical site and museums.
-Thunder Storms: No sense hating them, when you can love them.
-Sidewalk Seating: All coffee shops and bars have this wonderful patio seating that faces out to the street. The awnings provide a nice shelter from the unexpected rain storms.
-The Dutch Language: I delight in reading street and business names aloud, along with the occasional advertisement. The words are bouncy and fun and often look similar to English.
