Good evening!
I don't really know where to start since I last updated this.....travelling back to Zambia maybe!
So I got to Durban airport and checked in etc then Pam and I went for a Steer's meal....a classic South African restaurant, a steak and rib's Nando's pretty much! Twas lovely! I got from Durban to Joburg fine, a quick flight so I didn't even manage to finish a copy of Cosmopolitan!
I managed to get myself from domestic to international departures and checked in with relatively few problems but a lot of queueing! Did some window shopping, found Andy's aftershave to smell (=D!!) then went to my boarding gate at 5:30 for a 6pm flight....at 6pm we were told that the plane had been delayed until 8pm.
Fortunately, me being me, I got chatting to another girl who was meant to be on the flight and we went to a restaurant for coffee, only the coffee was more expensive than the cocktails, so we had strawberry daquiri's and a toasted sandwhich. It got to half 7 so we went back to the boarding gate, only to be told that the plane had been delayed until 9pm....so off we went to another cafe where we got another drink (I actually had a coffee this time!!) and lots of sympathy from the waiter!
Just before 9 we went back to the boarding gate and started to queue....turns out that most of the passengers had been told we were entitled to 80 Rands worth of food and drink from one of the shops because of the delay, but we hadn't been told so missed out on some nice looking salads! At half 9 someone came along and said that our plane had only just landed so we wouldnt be boarding until 10 but to stay there....at 10.15 we eventually got on the aircraft, and finally at 11 we left! I couldn't believe it! Sara and I got beyond annoyed and found the whole thing quite entertaining, the air hostess let us move out of our seats to sit together at the back of the plane where we chatted, read magazines and ate haribo's all the way back! So in the end...I got back to Lusaka 5 hours later than I should have!
It was good to get back to Nak house and Mazabuka on Saturday, I was craving a shower like nothing before but it was great to see everyone again. Unfortunately I only got to see Shaun for about 20 mins after dinner before he went back to work then left at 4am to go back to Durban for the week, but at least I had the others! I was up early on Sunday to go to Church...a different one to the last time. The service ended up being 4 and a half hours long, but it was worth every second....it was amazing!! I was sitting with one of the guys in my class at school, who is also the Dr's son, he's called Jo-Jo and is absolutely incredible, I think I mentioned that in another blog though!
Sunday I went over to Collette and Erics for a catch-up sesh! We had oxtail casserole for dinner...I reccommend it! Then I conked out for the night and almost cried when my alarm went on Monday morning! I got up though and toddled off to the school for my 7.30 am lesson! It was so good to see all the grade 12's again, especially Momba, Cynthia and JoJo again...not that I have favourites! The teacher didn't turn up but they all have exams next week so I gave them subjects to revise and let them do their own revision. I ended up sitting with JoJo doing chemistry....I was so shocked at what I actually remember how to do it!!
I'm babbling on so I'll just summarise what I've done since then! Monday night, I spent 3 hours in the gym and almost died at the end of it! Tuesday morning I went to the clinic and did a physio session....I swear they already think I'm qualified even when I tell them I havent started because they keep giving me patients to deal with myself...thank goodness for the internet and research i've already done! I'm getting quite confident with neck and knee problems, even paralysis and stroke!! Tuesday afternoon I went to Collettes to bake her some cakes for her bridge club today, then we went for a walk around the cane fields. I ended up staying for dinner again, I managed to rustle up a white wine and parmesan sauce with prawns and pasta...it was goooood!!
Today seems to have been a pointless day....I don't really know where it went or what happened...I can't really say much about it! But I did enjoy my gym sesh and am looking forward to Chuck on TV in a while...oh dear, my priorities have gone downhill!
Kaye rang me the other day which was AWESOME!! Whoop!! It was so good to speak to her again so I can't wait to see her...and everyone else of course, again! Spoke to Adam on Friday when I was in the airport...you have no idea how much I'd missed his accent! It is so much more Bradford than Kaye, it made me smile! I wasn't expecting to be able to speak to Andy every day but we have managed to speak in some way (email, text, phone, facebook etc) each day which has definately kept me going when I've been homesick or lonely, I'm also counting the hours until I get to see him next Friday, sad I know! Looking forward so much to coming home, I'm counting the hours, but making sure I make the most of my last week too!
Hope everyone is keeping well, I love you and miss you all! You're all in my prayers =)
