Ems and Steve Travelling
We ate our meal voucher at the airport and then had more food on the plane!! (4 free meals in 24 hours!) The safety video on the flight was rather alternative as it mentioned unconciousness!!
We arrived in Bali at about 1.15am finally and much to our surprise our bags were there and our transfer was too. (Its worth noting you have to pay for a visa on arrival which is $US10 ish - Lucy that comment is for you!).
We are staying at the Indah beach hotel nice traditional building, basic rooms and nice pool in the middle and you get free breakfast. We finally got to bed at about 4am but then were woken up at 8am by builders banging on the roof next door! We met a rep type person from STA which was really handy and unexpected and he gave us a few tips and gave us some leaflets on what we could do. We have booked to go to a volcano, temple and elephant cave tour, to do a Indonesian cooking class (I know you may laugh as Steve can't even cook in England - Alex will vouch for this), to go on an elephant trek, and to have a sunset seafood BBQ on the beach! So much for a relaxing time.
Today we had a look around Kuta but it was very hot and we had a lot of people asking us if we wanted Billabong, denim, taxis, transport (which Steve thought they were asking for passports - but he wasn't about to hand his over!), hair braiding, massages and many more other things! So we decided to go back to the hotel and go in the pool. By this time jet lag was catching up with us and we went to the room to have a nap which turned out being a rather long sleep.
We got up at around 6 and went for a walk. Much more chilled atmosphere as quieter, cooler and not so many sellers! We went to a very posh seafood restaurant called The Wave/SailFin and had a massive platter of seafood and fresh fruit (pictures to follow) and then went and had a sundae in Hard Rock Cafe ( I know its bad but we wanted to see if the football was on!) We do however promise not to go to Starbucks, Pizza Hut or one of the 2 McDonalds or any other American MNCs (Multi National Corporation for you non-Geographers) while we are here.
Any way we'd better go and watch Germany vs Sweden in our room (its a hard life)! More messages and emails on the website please!
