Emma's Travels
Hi guys, okay this kind of needs to be short since I am leaving to go to the airport shortly to fly out to Melbourne. But what a great last few days I've had here in Sydney. Shona and I worked out that we have had about 12 hours sleep in 3 days. I'm knackered but your only in Sydney once so you might as well make the most of it I keep telling myself.
On Saturday we went to Toronga Zoo in the morning. The views were fantastic, esp at the Giraffe and Sebra enclosure. You could look right out onto the bridge and harbour. We spent about 4 hours there and watched the bird show and seal show too. We then caught the ferry out to Circular Quay and made our way over to the Bridge for our Bridge Climb. I was kacking myself incase I failed the breath test (big pub crawl the night before) but thankfully I passed. We got a very intensive safety induction for about 30 minutes and then we got kitted up. We had to wear very fetching grey all in one Mitchellin man suits. The climb was amazing and easier than I thought (or I've become super fit over the last 4 weeks which I find hard to believe). We started our climb at about 4pm so that it was daylight as we were walking up. Every ten mins or so we would stop to take some photos and take in the view. By the time we had reached the top the sun was going down and on the way back down it was dark. It was really cool with all the lights in the background.
Shona and I met 2 British guys (one from Edinburgh) on the climb who are working out here in Australia. We ended up celebrating our climb when we finished by going for what was meant to be one drink. That soon turned into a whole night of drinking that saw us get home at 4.30am. We visited the Oldest pub in Sydney (War of Fortune) then went for dinner, then to an Irish pub called Scruffy Murphys before finally finishing the night in a bar called Cheers.
Yesterday I woke up feeling surprisingly perky which was just as well since Bronwyn and Phil had arranged to take us out on their boat. They had organised a group of people to come including Paige and Beck again and Jacquelines brother to name a few. The boat was huge with 3 decks and so we were all sitting on the top deck with crackers and cheese crusing into Sydney Harbour. We stopped for lunch at Sydney Fish market and had prawns, fish, oysters etc before taking in more sights. We saw Ron Howards house and also the apartment where Russell Crowe lives. I just about managed to see a baby piano through his window but no more.
