Emma's Travels
Oh muy gawd, I am sooooooooooooooooo hungover today.
Yesterday we had a great day. We caught the ferry from Kissing Point into Circular Quay (down by the Opera House) and started her day from there. The typical lazy tourists that we are, we decided that the best way to see the city would be by grabbing the sightseeing bus first to get our bearings. I'm glad that we did since I now have hoards of Oz info stacked at the back of my brain ready to use in my next pub quiz. For example, did you know that Australia is the only place in the world to have a convict/architetct on its money? So I'm not just a pretty face.........
Anyway the tour took about 90 minutes and we did the route once before getting off at Circular Quay again and having lunch outside in a cafe overlooking the bridge and Opera House. C'est la vie. We then boarded another bus tour that took us further out of Sydney's city centre to Bondi Beach. Only spent 30 mins there (just in time for an ice cream) and then back on the bus again. Bondi wasn't what I imagined though - the waves are incredible - but I was expecting it to be a bit more like Surfers Paradise. Loads of high rises.
We got back to Circular Quay at 5pm and we had arranged to meet a friend of Jacqueline's called Paige who would then take us out for drinks. Well as you can probably imagine, I deserve the sore head by drinking from 5pm. We started off at a place called the Ship Inn and then also met up with Jacquelines cousin Naomi (her double image), Jacquelines' brothers girlfriend Rebecca and 2 girls called Kelly and Vanessa. The girls were great and it was nice to have someone to show us around. Next up was a bar called Opera that was outside and looked onto the Opera house. We took lots of photos here too. Can't remember the name of the pubs after that. It might have been somewhere called The Australian Hotel (and wait for it..................wait for it............................no doner kebab for me to cure the midnight drinking munchies. oh no I had crocodile pizza and it was.............................................................................................................................exactly like chicken). I'm still going to eat kangaroo before I go home. You can't come out here and not try it. Anyway we finished the night off dancing our little socks off to some good ole cheesy music in another pub that for the life of me I can't remember the name of. I'm sure the more I sober up it shall come back to me.
Thanks for the congrats messages guys - best way ever to celebrate out here.
Dad - I'll phone home tommorrow to wish you happy fathers day (is that the right day?). So Be In or Be Square.
Ciao amigos - bridge climb awaits.
