Today we had an early rise to catch our train to Vancouver. After the alarm didnt go off we were in a rush the rest of the morning. We missed breakfast which we had planned of grabbing if we had woken up when the alarm went off. We then caught a taxi after dad forget to grab his wallet, phone and the room key so he had to do a mad dash downstairs to ask for another, go back up the elevator to the room, get his wallet and the original room keys then hurry back down to the lobby so we could catch our taxi to the train station.
Our train ride was really pleasant as we had the ocean on one side and the forests, barns and houses on the other side. The ocean looked amazing from the last carriage we were in because we got a late seat allocation due to having an overweight bag which had to be opened, move over 12 pounds out of our bag and put it into a box then repack and head to the seat allocation desk then wait for the train. The forest and trees looked so green and lively and looked so amazing just like a scene out of the Twilight Series.
After we got off the train we had to go through customs as we were going over the US and Canada border. The border control man was really nice and helpful when we asked him about money exchange as we had completely forgotten to get any Canadian money. He advised us to use a bank or a exchange place outside fot the train station as they charge you more and the rate is terrible, he said somewhere downtown would be preferable to change money over.
We then caught another taxi to our hotel which then involved a massive fight between the concierge and my father over the room we has been given. When my parents booked the hotel over the internet months ago it was a twin room, which led them to belive that that meant two double beds but it in fact meant two singles. What made my dad most annoyed was that the website had said that that room could house up to 4 people which is what we have but it only had two single beds in it. After about an hour of fighting about nothing, we were moved into the room we had originally booked for, and the single beds really looked and feel like a smaller double bed. Then the manager called and said that after speaking to the head manager we were going to be moved into a two bedroom unit where my sister and i could have our own bed, and we would also have a bigger living space.
That day we went for a walk down to Safeway to get some food for dinner as we got into the city later than we expected. Tomorrow we plan to go to Capilano Suspension Bridge and whatever else we can do and fit into the day.
