Waking up in Vancouver in amazing and freezing when you step outside. Today we planned to go to Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver. We had our own breakfast and then headed down to Robson St, where we caught the free shuttle to the bridge. I found the bus to be really good as the driver knew the city well and also we went through Stanley Park and over the Lionsgate Bridge which was good as we plan to go to the Totem Poles in Stanley Park tomorrow.
Once we got to the Capilano Suspension Bridge we bought our tickets which were really expensive but throughout the day i found it to be worth it. We then grabbed a few maps and started to head over the bridge. At first i was really scared as the bridge moves when you or other people walk on it.But after a while i really enjoyed it and realised that i didnt mind heights anymore.
Then we walked around the Natures Edge Boardwalk where we could walk among the trees on bridges that were interconnected. We could also walk along the boardwalk which took you through the park and to where we had an amazing view over the Capilano River which is filled with the melting snow water.
After that we went along the Cliff Walk where you walked over the trees and river below on a circular walkway that was suspensed from the rockface. Then we bought a few hot chocolates and had some lunch under the tent next to the Canyon Cafe which was delightfully warm. We then took the bus back over the Lionsgate Bridge to the first hotel stop and walked back into Stanley Park. We then walked throught the rain to get to the Aquarium, located in approx. the middle of Stanley Park.
After getting the tickets we went inside and caught the 4-D Happy Feet movie that they had changed so it fit into a half hour timeslot. They added awesome special affects like sprays of water, also bubbles from the roof and when it showed snow they had fake snow coming from vents in the roof.
Then we went through the aquarium and got to see the beluga being fed and heard the noises the keepers got them to make. After that we went back to our hotel and had spicy roast chicken for dinner. I have found during my time in Vancouver that Canada is very expensive for food, amenities and most things actually in the downtown district. If you want to have a decent meal that is not only good tasting and cheap you will have to go somewhere outside of downtown or get something from a shop and cook in if you have the oppurtunity to.
