Great nights sleep then up early for our elephant ride, great experience, (although my water bottle splitting and leaking 750ml of water over me, looked like I'd peed myself!) Very difficult to take pics from atop a moving elephant I found, however, thanks to an abundance of Chinese tourists, all wearing neon clothing and talking/shouting very loudly (and one smoking on an elephant??!!) the only thing we saw was deer. Now I love deer as much as the next person (in fact when I used to commute through Woburn I was always dismayed when the death toll board showed another fatality, but once you've seen one, you've seen em all!!! Esp frustrating when you know the same park houses rhino, tigers, sloth bears and leopards (and no didn't see any from the elephant). Did see monkeys though which was good, and our elephant was hilarious, reminded me of being on a naughty horse who keeps trying to snack on passing vegetation whilst riding! On arriving back to base, we went to see elephants being washed. Jo, Anya and Rachel all had a go, and yes, I should have done it too but didn't, perhaps next time!! The afternoon bought a canoe ride on the Rapti river which was quite hair raising, we were so low in the water, it was only about an inch from the top of the canoe, not scary until you add in the fact we were drifting past mugger crocodiles basking on the banks not more than 10 feet away!! It was amazing though, saw more monkeys and kingfisher as well. The canoe trip was followed by a walk in the jungle, where we saw, you guessed it, more deer, termite mounds and the crowning glory, when we came across a rhino and her baby in the river AMAZING sight! Last stop of the day was the elephant breeding centre with the cutest babies, lots and lots of pics taken :)
