Today we all woke up bright and early at 7am to go to Steve Irwin's 'Australia Zoo'. Luckily it was a really sunny day and we got picked up at our hostel and driven by coach to the zoo. This wasn't an ordinary zoo...it was more hands on and when i say hands on we got to independently stroke kangarros, koalas, wombats etc...
Steve Irwins's face is everywhere. His well known sayings 'crikey' 'isn't she beautiful' and 'you don't want to mess with that' echo around the zoo. I got very excited about stroking the Kangaroos...kind of felt like a child! We also went to see a wildlife show and they did the usual who wants to volunteer calls...as usual i scream out really not expecting to or even wanting to be picked and guess what i get get picked! I had to stand in the audience shouting out these funny bird noises and bending my legs and flapping my knees so birds would come and land on my arms (i hate birds they scare me)...this was projected on a big screen! After all the effort i put into it the birds flew away!Very embarrassing!
We saw all sorts of animals native to Australia including koalas (i want one), crocodiles, dingos, elephants and tiger cubs! The crocodile shows were incredible and we watched videos showing Steve Irwin growing up and how hios interest in wildlife developed and most interestingly catching crocodiles etc...THE CROCODILE HUNTER...CROCS RULE!!! haha! Have some cool photos!
Tomorrow we are going to the National Park to have a picnic and then walk through to Alexandra BEach which is meant to be beautiful. Might even do some mountain biking! x x x
