Goodbye New South Wales

Hello Queensland and the Gold Coast!

I hadn't heard great thing's about Brisbane...

We arrived at our hostel which was located in the centre of Brisbane....painfully near Louis Vuitton...even nearer Ralph Lauren and next door to David Jones! The hostel was very alike what i'd imagine the Adams Family house would look like, dark wood, an old craggy, manual lift, winding stairs and high ceilings with the added bonus of internet access and a hot shower!Our room mate was very mysterios in that we never saw him...just his big trainers, messy bed, hair wax and even more mysterious hair straighteners! We saw his outline in the dark as he came in at 1 am but in the morning he was gone!A least i didn't get stuck with a snorting, smelly irishman like Bins and Hanah! In the evening we wandered the streets in search of a pizza place...we seemed to yoyo between expensive, mouldy and closed...we had to settle with mouldy and sat on a bench outside the kebab/pizza shop having just chosen our mix pizza that had been sitting out for viewing purposes...do you know the kind?We also had fizzy drinks and very grossly could not stop burping for the next hour!never again! In the morning we walked along the main shooping street staring into shops but not walking in. When suddenly we came across giat KRISPY KREME DOUGHNUT signs and overheard that in an hour they were going to be giving out FREE doughnuts to anyone who was around. So we waited. An hour passed and then another hour while they made promotional speeches. Then we got 4 free doughnuts each and felt very ill! Life is all about free stuff at the moment. Even if you do have to wait two hours. We went across the river to the main park which is so beautiful. It has a piazza and flowers climbing up trees and a beach! Well, a man made beach with real sand and salt water. So bizzarre. They also had a very sweet childrens beach! We lay around in the park for a while in the sun and then headed back to the hostel to catch the bus so Noosa.

I think Brisbane is great!
