On Thursday our group set off on a trip to the PAcific which we had been planning throughout the week, it was nice to get out of San Jose and start the drive (in our private car) to the Pacific Coast! the drive was fairly long, aroung 4 hours but the scenery along the way was absolutely beautiful, we passed coffee plantations, rainforest and small villages with hundreds of small stalls selling fresh fruit. It was all so colourful and the roads were full of lively activity. We drove across fairly dodgy bridges and round some pretty spooky corners but all in all the ride was very amusing! Along the way i suddenly got the urge to eat a watermelon and i thought it would be an experience to buy some fruit from one of the stalls so we stopped off one and bought a huge watermelon and some really juicy mangoes. The man behind the stall cut the watermelon up and put the pieces in a plastic bag....we had so much watermelon and we ended up getting juice all over the bus...we kept the driver happy by shoving watermelon into his hands. We pulled up a while later alongside a river on a bridge. The driver suggested that we go and look at the crocodiles so we all walked in a line along the bridge with traffic sweeping past us and saw a crocodile. Some other tourists on the other side of the rode told us to come and look on their side so we sprinted across the rode and peered down to find about 15 big crocodiles huddled together on the river bank. It was such an awesome sight. We still ad so much watermelon left and everyone had eaten their fair share so we decided to give the rest to the crocodiles. We through it down to them and they'y snap it up in their mouths so fast..the red flesh of the watermelon made it appear as though somebody had fallen down and been eaten. We got back into the bus after lots of photos and drove to Manuel Antonio. We passed through Quepos which was completely packed with endless 'ocean view' resorts and restaurants and bars. Happy! We finally arrived in MAnuel Antonio and drove along the coastal road which was bustling with people and market stalls. The beach was lined with coconut palms and there were sun loungers!!! It took us a while to find our 5 pound a night cabins at the Tico Lodge but they turned out to be very pleasant, with double beds, warm showers and tv's! Not bad! I shared a cabin with Roselyn who we met just before leaving for the trip, she is 24 and really nice. It was so humid and we were all absolutely baking so got into our swimming costumes and walked down a path to the beach. Rory, Harry, Tash and Antonia went swimming while Roselyn and i went and checked out th emarket stalls that were decorated beautifully with colourful drapes that blew in the wind. After a while we went and had lunch in one of the two main restaurants. I had a delicious smoothie and Red Snapper which turned out to be massive, have a tongue and be so delicious!! I was stuffed by the end! It rained a bit in the afternoon to we went back to the cabins and played cards...took a while to teach evrybody the ins and outsof a*******...particularly Antonia wh never really understood the significance of the joker...sh eput it down last every time! Turns out some people are quite competitive! Rory lost every time despite havimg a tactic that he assured us never failed him! The boys went and bought some drinks and the evening began! Around 9.30 we went into Manuel Antonio to get something to eat only to find that everywhere was closed! We were all pretty tipsy by now and i somehow ended up climbing into a little cut and then knocking it over..oops ! We ended up getting the bus into Quepos for 10p....a very funny bus journey, Antonia would not stop taking photos and laughed her head off! We got off at a mexican restaurant and all ordered Nachos and chocolate cake! A good combination! We then went on to a club...it took us a while to find it but we got there eventually! It was quite empty when we arrived and the dance floor was completely free so we grapped some Margueritas and took control of the dance floor when Michael JAckson came on! The evening turned into a mixture of Salsa and Reggae dancing, had fun dancing with Antonia and then got dragged up with Tash and Roselyn by some costa ricans to do some salsa dancing! It didn't last long as i used one of my spins as an escape route and grabbed hold of Rory's hand and attempted a mixture of salsa/ballroom dancing with him...it was very funny! Somehow we all ended up dancing amidst confetti and white paper rolls!! Roseln and i left as te reggae music began to get repetitive and our dance moves were limited to bobbing up and down....little did we know that half an hour later 2 male strippers were to arrive!!Antonia and Tash seemed to have fun anyway!
