After 11 hours on the ropey train we arrived in Hoi An!
I think when we all saw how nice the hotel was...with pool...we all got a bit excited.
After sunbathing and swimming we headed out for lunch in the old town - found a great place called 'the little menu' and had another lovely meal....don't think Ill get sick of Asian food but ask me again in a month.
We looked round the shops, market and sights eventually finding the river.
This place is famous for it's tailoring, beautiful clothes made exactly to your measurements overnight.
I maybe would have had something if I didn't have to carry it round for the next couple of months.
The river is how I imagined Vietnam, colourful relaxed and really pretty.
We had our first bucket cocktail in a roof bar overlooking the water, my mojito tasted a bit like it had been made in a mop bucket but I stay hopeful they'll get better.
After dinner we just walked along the river and enjoyed the atmosphere and dodged the bikes.
We bought lanterns from cute little girls, you're meant to make a wish as they float away.
The following day I decided to stay by the pool and have a lazy day, practiced my swimming, it's as pathetic as ever.
Had a massage, much better than the last but was a bit confused when neck and shoulder mostly consisted of lower back/bum cheeks?!
Before dinner we took a boat down the river, had the pleasure of seeing an old lady squatting off the edge of the dock....I could have done without having that imprinted in my memory (but don't worry I took photos if you'd like to see).
4 hour bus journey to Hue in the morning...
