The flight to Laos was pretty luxurious to what I was expecting. I pictured a tiny plane with bits hanging off but it was a big plane with lots of leg room (which seems odd as most Asian people are very small). As soon as we stepped off the plane the heat hit me, I think I'd got a bit used to the cooler weather in the city....now it's back to sweating like mad...but hopefully sunshine. I'm glad to be somewhere a little calmer, only the odd motorbike and lots of nice cars. We have had to learn to cross the road again-the right way.
Dinner was interesting...chicken cartilage & duck bills just some of the delicious options but me and Katherine opted for the fried crickets. They were pretty small and crispy, heads legs and all, quite tasty! Oh and I had beef stew which was mostly beef fat stew, I got excited to see a baby carrot so munched it in one go, it turned out to be a chilli - SWEET JESUS I couldn't feel my face for a few minutes. Lesson learnt. After dinner I ate Icecream and the others drank beer while we watched a local band, we all sang and danced to YMCA with I'm guessing everyone staring. A local guy came over and asked where we were from, said he bet with his friend we were English - I wonder why he thought that?
My 6am jogging alarm got switched off and I went exploring instead, mostly temples and Buddhas. I looked like I'd been for a swim when we got back I was so hot so I reckon walking for 3 hours in this heat is a good enough work out for today.
Now 4 hour bumpy bus to the next place, can't remember what it's called but the thought of 2 nights in one place is very exciting!!
Missing the old gang :(
