Cou cou dearests!
So a quick update on my life here in France...
Sunday we spent the day in Toulouse once again. This time, we rented bikes and toured around the river on them. The architecture is tres incroyable... Every time we turn a corner I find my fingers itching for my sketchbook at the sheer beauty of everything. The river (La Garon) is bridged by the most beautiful bridges in varying styles. Biking down the sidewalks, with the sun shining, the sky bright blue, and the wind whipping my hair back... Weaving in and out of the French crowds and trying not to get so lost in the perfection all; now that's something I'll never forget. I swear, the grin was practically super glued to my face.
Today was the first day of school. Slightly terrifying, but I survived. The schedule is beyond confusing; each day is different and so the length of the day varies, as does the room for each subject, not to mention at some points your class divides. The school, similarly, is a maze. My strategy? Grab the nearest classmate and hold onfor the ride! The teachers are cool so far; my Spanish teacher only has one arm and my history teacher feels the need to scream every word. They all have major issues with the fact that I'm Canadian and I can't speak French. Excuse me, but why do you think I'm here? Sorry we don't all fit the image you think we should. My classmates seem nice. I find girls here incredibly touchy feely, and I'm really not used to it. Between the constant cheek kissing and being dragged in twenty different directions, I'm really considering booking some future me time. Lunch was an "American" meal... Pizza and fries. I must say, French food has spoilt me... My lips curled at the sight of the greasy, all American meal. The cool part about lunch was that I ended up sitting beside a guy from the Caribbean who spoke fluent English. It pretty nice to have a fluent face to face conversation again. Actually, that's the nice thing about m school; it's international. I met people from all over and fell in love with multiple accents.
So that brings you up to date... A quick look into the future....
Tomorrow were going to a cirq du soleil-esque performance, so I'm pretty excited for that. Wednesday I'm going back to Toulouse with some girls from class to do some shopping. Saturday im taking the train to who knows where for a ski trip through ASF. And Sunday Benoit is taking us flying over the mountains!
Hope everyone's doing well, loving the comments! bisousbisous!
Much international love,
Emma
