Bonjourrrrr mes cheries! (I can almost guarantee you that I spelt that wrong)
So I gotta tell you, I'm stepping up my game here in France... Like, literally; I just went to a step class avec Benedicte. Yay for French cardio! I will now forever remember left and right in French. Now, this entry probably won't be long, for the basic reason that my English brain is turned off and I'm having trouble making coherent sentences... And remembering words. I keep thinking in French and then translating it into English, so really thisis jus not a good situation. So anyway! Last weekend, I went to a castle called Carcassonne. It was old and castle-y and what not. Reall cool to walk around in and see all th old architecture and the strange little men wearing tights. Speaking of strange little men in tight clothing, I'm thinking of one word that should strike fear into the hearts of all those that hear it... That's right ladies and gentleman; speedos. (cue: audience gasps in horror). Honestly, thos things should require a license to wear... Im thinking only those under the age of 40 who can bench press their own weight at least. But, unfortunately, it seems the French don't share my same distaste of super small spandex; especially the old men. *shiver* I'm scared for life. Honestly, if you're old enough to require diapers, you are too old to be displaying all your business at th eye level of small children. Moving on for that delightful subject, yesterday was La Carnaval à ma lycee! Yayyyy Carnaval! For those of you uneducated Canadian folk (no offense, I was one of you 3 days ago), this is when all the frenchies dress up in costumes and judge each others. Pretty much our Halloween, exceptttt, guys and girls reverse roles. (What do you mean Emma? Please share your infinitely deep thoughts on cultural differences and trends that all 5 weeks in another country has afforded you!) Why darlings, we are brought right back to my favorite topic... Speedos! Yes, here in darling France, it's the BOYS who put on minimal clothing and flaunt it, hairy French legs and all! The girls are the ones who ( for the most part) remain covered, in costumes varying for full skirt princesses to flower pots! The boys, meanwhile, all become cross dressers and street walkers! The two most popular costumes being; a) the bathboy. Complete with a speedo and a bathrobe hanging open, this look really leaves nothing to th imagination. Or b) mommy's closet raider. I'm talking dresses, mini skirts, 4 inch heels, fake boobies, and purses. This look is completed with clown makeup and any style of atrocious wig! But I must say, my overall favourite costumes of the were the 5 boys who donned sequined speedos, bras, and sleeves, tin foil shoes, and wigs and pranced around behind another guy dressed as a game show host. It seemed that throughout the day, they could be found performing choreographed dances in the middle of any crowd. Very amusing! Now, I'm going to go pretend to do work, but let's be serious, all I'm really accomplishing is a sketchbook filled with my daily crazy. I hope you all enjoyed my ranting, sorry about the non existent English brain! I pinky promise to post pics soon!
Much speedo?NO! love,
Emma
