I've had a terrible nights sleep and think I am getting a cold, b***** :(
This morning we headed off to the Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum where the revered leaders body is entombed. It was quite odd to see it and he continues to be important to the Vietnamese people although he died in 1969. Apparently Ho asked for his body to be cremated but they decided to keep the body on display for the education of Vietnamese people. The body needs to go back to Russia for 2mths of every year so it continues to be preserved. We then saw the presidential palace and the grounds which were all really lovely, but by the end of it I was all Ho Chi Minh'd out! So I ditched the museum....
We the headed to Koto for lunch. This restaurant trains young underprivileged youth in to work in a restaurant and speak English. I had the honey cashew prawns which were delicious! it's nice to be able to feed my face for a good cause...!
From there we walked to the Hanoi Hilton which is part if a former prison of the Vietnamese people when under French colonial rule and also for American Pilots that were shot down during the Vietnam war. It was quite a good museum and really interesting.
We then went walking a bit more round the city to find some food for tonights train ride. Found a bakery and got some baguettes for breakie tomorrow!
Pretty exhausted headed back to the hotel to prepare for tonight's train trip, which leaves at 11pm. We then enjoyed, wait for it, KFC! Paap, tony and I munched on a bucket of chicken! Good times.... Just enjoying a beer now before the imminent train ride, god damn....
