Today we left Luang Prabang to travel by private bus to Vang Vieng, approx 260km. The trip takes about 7hrs including rest stops. Paap isn't feeling the best after last night but I am all good.... We arrived in the small town of Vang Vieng about 5pm. Our guesthouse, (which calls itself a resort, false advertising!) is set on the banks of the Nam Song river. Vang Vieng is known for its tubing, kayaking, spectacular mountains and limestone caves. Also for drunken tourists stumbling through town, and bars playing reruns of friends and family guy. This morning we headed to Tad Sae waterfalls where we would be able to go elephant riding. We got a bus to the river then a small boat to the waterfall. The elephants were absolutely gorgeous! So placid and gentle. Paap and I got our own elephant a little after everyone else so we got to take some pics and feed some of the other elephants. First full day in Luang Prabang starts early! I ate way to much rice yesterday so my mission is to have a rice free day today! I'm still in love with banana pancakes so I scoff some of those and Sabrina, Tony, Pip, Paap and I head to Kuang Si waterfalls. We decided to do a 3hr trek with our lovely local guide Savat, instead of taking the easy way and getting a car to the falls.
