Em Goes Exploring
Perth Rocks!
We arrived in Perth nice and early in the morning, (although we lost 6 hours along the way) and headed to our backpackers in Cottesloe, which is about 5km south-west of the city centre. Our taxi driver was an ex-pat, and full of useful information about the city.
Cottesloe is a posh suburb of Perth, and the best thing is that the beach and the beautiful Indian Ocean is less than 100m walk away.
To avoid jetlag, we carried on as usual and headed into Perth city centre to have a good look round. The Swan River runs through the city, opening our to a harbour - very picturesque. The city is very green, clean and the people are super friendly. By the evening, we were in the bar and drunk and skunks, again, and playing pool with the local ozzies!
I have already joined a gym in the city, which is close to where I shall be working. Yep, working - this is going to be a shock! As of Monday 3rd July, I will be back in the office for three months.
We are hoping to make the most of the weekend and head to Freemantle, which is south of the city, to visit the markets. And if the sun comes out, we shall try and take a trip to Rottnest Island. It will be strange no longer being a lady of leisure, and back to sight seeing at the weekends.
The local transport network is great in Perth, although we shall be purchasing ourselves bikes, since the cycle network is so good and safe to do in the city. South Perth is looking good as a place to live, so fingers crossed we shall be in a new abode very soon. It is very strange being back in the land of the loving, so to speak!
Bye for now, Love Em x
