Well, I´ve just finished my last language class. It feels like the end of an era and I was quite sad to say goodbye to my tutor and other people I´ve met there. Saw an Argentinian film for the last class, called El secreto de sus ojos (roughly The secret of her eyes), and I´d thoroughly recommend it.
This week I had another salsa lesson and this time stood on my partner´s toes a couple of times, so perhaps I do have two left feet after all! Also had another cooking lesson: we made locro de papas, which is a potato soup with avocado and some beany things (chichos, whatever those are). Spent a bit of time wandering round Quito and looking at the views (think I`ve ´done´ Quito now). On Wednesday I joined a group of people going to Papallacta, some thermal baths outside of Quito. It was pouring with rain, and surprisingly was the perfect thing to do on a rainy day. Yesterday Juan Sebastian, the son in the family I´m staying with, took me to the local swimming pool and we had great fun. I´m going to miss him when I leave on Sunday.
Next stop is the Amazon jungle (Tena) I think - on Tuesday - and then the spa town Banos.
Bye for now!
