Emma's Smiley Travels
Hi all,
A quick note from Caracus.. I have to say that this was the only part of my trip that i was slighty apprehensive of. I had heard that parts of Caracus were not exactly places you wanted to hang around for long....
So i headed off to the centre of Caracus on my own armed with my Lonely Planet South America (that i would take out as wouldn't want to look like a tourist!!).
I was quite reassured when i found the metro, (give me a tube and i feel at home:). When i got into the centre of Caracus, i did understand what everyone was talking about, it didn't feel that cosy....
Having been moved on by some Police (shouting Spanish but i think they were saying you should go it's not safe!!) i decide having survived 1hr30mins i shouldn't push it, and headed for the touristy cable car!!
The Cable Car ride was 15 mins and one of the best views i have ever had from a cable car, it took you right over a national park, (photo on right view from the top).
After a full day in Caracus i ventured to get some dinner in a nice little gallery bistro i had spotted in the day, near where i was staying (which was worth the extra $10 a night as it was the nice bit!!).
After speciality of the house which was an interesting collection of things including salad, meat pastry, fish.... i went back to the hotel hoping not to awaken by the school opposite that seem to have a stereo system that when played felt like it was right by my ear, which is really not pleasant at 7am!!!
Next its New York and i am really excited as i am meeting my mum!! :)
Take Care
Em:)
