Well we have to admit jet-lag caught up with us and we slept til the afternoon! Then walked into Cairns and started to explore. Cairns is quite a small city with a beautiful view, it is surrounded by the ocean and rainforests :)

We spent the first few days just chilling out and exploring the town!! Also found ourselves a delightful hostel to stay in :S lol turned out to be really nice!! Then our adventures began!

Starting with snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. It was a 2 hour journey in a catamaran to get to Upolu Cay, in quite rough seas! Once we got there we put on our fins and snorkel masks and got the shock of our lives. We saw so many amazing fish and coral. The colours were fantastic and some of the fish were really big. Emma went out a second time and managed to see a huge turtle but got scared and went back to the boat!!! We remembered to sun-cream our backs but ditzy Emma forgot her legs and lets just says its a bit painful to sit down :( finished the journey back with a glass of wine and a tropical fruit platter. We agreed, enjoying a nice glas of wine on the great barrier reef is a memory we wont be forgetting :)

Next day we took the 2nd longest skyrail in the world, over the canopy of the rainforest to a small aboriniginal village called Kuranda. Amy enjoyed spending time looking at the aboriginal art and even bought herself a piece to take home. Then we got the scenic railway back through the mountains, with great views of the rainforest and the sea and coral.

Today, we woke at 5.45am and got a 4X4 driven by the aussie equivalent to Ray Mears. He drove us to Palm Cove, Mossman gorge, The daintree river and Cape Tribulation. An absolutely amazing day, we saw wild crocodiles but even better, we saw a wild cassowary bird (they are endangered and there are only 1000 in the world) and we saw it as we were driving back from cape tribulation.
