Last day ... what a sad event ... well everyone was feeling a little worse for wear in the morning (no surprises there!) and still reeling from the bizaare events of the night before (if your unsure check out day 2!)... so the choice of going to Lake Wabbi was definately off the cards considering it is apparently a 1 hour walk ... no chance on a hangover! So a majority vote decided that it was wisest to pay Lake Mackenzie a visit again before catching the ferry back to Hervey Bay!
So ... yeh we kinda just sat & took in the sun ... we tried to get Damien & Chris to do a pyramid in the Lake but they were having none of it! Sven & Jorn (very funny German guys ... although for a long while we did think they were called Benny & Bjorn ... hmm) decided to launch an attack with the football on Lennie & I & then they decided they would get Lennie in the water (fully clothed - might i add,- totally unprovoked!) Anyway, after chilling at the Lake for a little longer we decided best get to the ferry port (in case we missed it) & have a bbq there ... very nice! Luckily we did as we got stuck in one of the tracks (not literally ... but another car got stuck in the middle of the track - so was a big back-log). The guys from our 4x4 (well Tommy, Mark & Greg hopped into action once again A-team-stylee... (I think they were trying to score more man points) to help or at least pretend!)
We all made the ferry in the end & made our way back to our respective hostels to shower etc (most people were staying in Palace ... where the meeting took place) ... we were a little bit out in Colonial Cabins YHA ... v.nice hostel, very friendly staff - really were good - & gave us lifts to when I had to go to the hospital for my ear infection :( )
Some of us who were not getting up ridiculously early to leave Hervey the next day went out that night along the esplanade (if your stayin in colonial - best get a taxi or if the hostel are doing a shuttle - its a tad far to walk) ... We went to an Irish bar called Hoolihans with some of the guys from our trip ... good place to start & then headed to Koala's bar called Morocco's (I think!) ... reminded us a bit of a school disco (not sure in a good way ... but they played Reef - Put your hands on - classic uni song (ahhh it took us back... those were the days (uni not school - we are 22/23)!!!)). Tommy tripod tried to woo emma with his salsa skills ... i think she was impressed - but obviously not that impressed as we said our goodbye's shortly after!
Got home at like 3am, to pack & get up to catch a bus to Byron early the next morning ... but hark! who was on our bus ... the tripod, greg & mark hmmm ("we're on a speedboat ... somebody's stalking us" lol)
Byron Bay to come ... very nice place apparently (or so we have been told). Hope you are all good! Love Jo x x x
