OK Day two people (I know you have all been on the edges of your seats waiting in anticipation - ok maybe not) ... Im afraid I completely b*****ed up the date of Day one ... but the nice people at STA are going to sort it out for me :)
Anyhoo crap I can't remember what we did on day 2 ... hmm oh yes i recall ... after being woken up early (not by the rangers who told us if we didnt move our asses in 30mins they would fine us for camping illegally oops (I swear we didnt know ... honest) ... but cos it was like 100 degrees in our tent, I swear we were like gonna pass out it was sooo hot (& not in a good way). After woolfing down some brekkie & battling with the flies (If your going it is very advisable to bring fly spray (or acid in a bottle - whatever ur particular preference is ... cos the little buzzy b***ards are everywhere (ps only joking about the acid lol)). Poor lennie got bitten quite a bit (by flies not dingoes ... dont worry parents she was very 'dingo-safe')
We decided to head up to the shipwreck (cant remember the name of it at the mo ... but you cant really miss it lol) ... spent some time taking arty pics then headed up to indian heads ... a very cool lookout point ... bit of a steep trek (bit slippy doing it in flip-flops (or thongs ... dont worry Im not talking about the g-string variety ... we are not that lewd!!!) - so take some shooz with a bit of a grip). Awesome view from the top (a must-see) ... saw a pod of dolphins (suffice to say we had a bit of a discussion to whether its a pod/school/gang/krew of dolphins hehe) & what we thought was a sea turtle (although may have been a rock - did i mention it was a long way up?). The coulour of the sea (as you can see from the photo's was the most amazing turquoise ... very purty) ... after gazing on the edge of the cliff for a while we thought it was time to move on ... so went for a bit of a drive in our 4x4 round to champagne pools (tis not that far from indian heads ) - but we all couldn't really be ars'd to walk there plus was in midday sun!!!
With Damien in the driving seat we cruised passed the first soft sand track & thought we were onto a winner with the second soft sand track ... bit too big for our boots we got stuck right in the middle of the track upto champagne pools (doh!) ... turns out we had a puncture & the tyre had completely come off the wheel-rim (double-doh!) ... so the guys in our group sprung to action (it was like something out of the A-team ... very 80's-montage-like... i tell thee)! A helpful passer-by hopped out to help us ... & he looked uber excited to use his inflatable jack to help change the tyre (see pics lol) ... got it sorted (woohoo) & mosied our way to the pools ... which were very nice indeed - nice to go in the water in the sweltering heat!
Bumped into group 1 again (after initially losing them earlier in the day) to find Chris & Georgie (his name is actually Mark ... but Len decided his name was George so that inevitably stuck) drinking (yet again ... Chris - your excuse of "I'm on holiday" doesn't really wash anymore I'm afraid dude lol esp after consuming 72 cans of beer between them in 2 days). Anyway despite the alcoholic tendencies they were a good laugh!
After cooling down in the pools we made our way to Eli Creek ... which was friggin chilly (Em & len chickened out - being that they were too short to walk down the creek - Even I had to hoyk my shorts up til them resembled hotpants & I'm 5ft 8 ... I see their point) ... Oh my gosh - I cant believe I almost forgot to mention but on our way to Eli creek we were driving along the beach listening to the ipod as you do ... (gripping on for dear life as Tommy tripod's driving was bordering on rally (& not in a good way people esp in a 10 people 4x4 in wet sand!!!)) when we came across an elderly couple in towels across the beach (remember this is a road on Fraser ... so more M25 than country track). Me & Greg were in the back & Greg turns to me going ... "Oh no ... I think ... oh my ... I think their NAKED!!!!" Oh my ... i think they are Greg!!!(lennie concurred, Eric (whose leg lennie particularly liked grabbing onto over bumps) & Hakan (swedish guys) were wetting themselves) ... suffice to say they flung ther towels behind them & frollicked hand in hand towards the water! Nooooooooooo .... yelps were heard from our 4x4 ... the guys particularly in disgust, didnt bargain on seeing OAP porn on Fraser (an image that that will be burnt on their retina's for a long time!!!) haha soooo funny & unexpected!
Haha anyway after finding a (legal) campsite & group 3 we all made dinner ... spag bol! Very well cooked by Orla & damien might we add! Anyway another goon-fuelled night (the most random night in a long while). Tommy Tripod was especially amusing ... Class A nuts (but in a really funny way)... basically to sum up we all got onto a conversation about Tommy's flying & his idea to steal a plane (as you do!) and fly it too fiji ... ok Tommy fab idea ... Georgie was particular enthused (and volunteered to be flight crew) ... Damien who was also particularly waasted helped Tommy Tripod with his flight simulation (being two full-grown guys on an eskie pretending to pilot/co-pilot the flight). errr ok .... very funny (this conversation, I swear was the longest conversation in history ... I've never seen so many guys so excited about flying to fiji on a faux-plan... absurd i tell thee). Also saw like 12 shooting stars ... amazing clear sky!
Had a dingo encounter at 2am ... eeek (group one left their rubbish out ... doh) don't worry we were dingo safe!
Anyway we all thought it was best to go back to our tents & sleep after our random action-packed day ... sorry this is so long btw lol ... got a bit carried away ooops plus had to mention certain things ... like Tommy tripod for example ... a journal entry in itself!!!) I promise day 3 & night out will be shorter :) Lots of love Jo x x x
